“BNT covered everything about homownership, from A to Z."
- David Batista

Homeownership. The Great American Dream. It can change lives and transform communities. Homeowners are personally invested in their property, its upkeep and the overall vitality of the neighborhood.

As part of its mission to strengthen neighborhoods, BNT’s free homeownership program helps people through the often daunting process of buying a home. The program offers a variety of workshops, personal counseling and in-depth classes - all created to provide the information, answers and support a first time homebuyer needs.

All BNT workshops are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. To sign up for workshops, classes or individual counseling, please call Emilia Diaz at 203 332-7977.

Since 2002, BNT has provided homeownership counseling to more than 250 Bridgeport residents. 160 of the participants bought homes. In 2007, BNT's homeownership program reached 119 potential homeowners.

In addition to the public program, BNT is partnering with Seaview Avenue Business Association (SABA) to conduct special homeownership seminars for employees of SABA's member institutions.

BNT has expanded its Homeownership Program with support from:

  What our Homebuyers say:
“There were a lot of things I didn’t understand. BNT helped me understand the process. Now we know what it takes to own a home.” Filomena Gregory
“Being able to buy a home is a big accomplishment. After I got my home I felt I could put my mind into doing anything.” Edith Diaz
“The entire staff of BNT was great. They walked me through the process of homeownership step by step. Coming from my background, I did not have the knowledge to do it myself. In low income areas, people sometimes think that they can’t own a home. But BNT provided me with an abundance of information and showed me that I could own a home. Anyone can own a home, if they want it enough.” Phyllis Marrow
